The Hampton City Attorney’s Office is recruiting a new Procurement Attorney. This position will serve as the primary legal advisor to the Procurement Office. Other assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s experience and interests, and may include serving as counsel to the City’s entertainment and tourism facilities; counsel to the Hampton Employees Retirement System (closed to new entrants since 1984); and legal adviser concerning federal funding programs and intellectual property matters. Transactional legal experience in contracts or procurement is required. Experience with the Virginia Public Procurement Act or in local government law is preferred. The position is anticipated to be filled as Assistant City Attorney II, which requires at least two years’ relevant legal experience. The position may be underfilled as Assistant City Attorney I, if the selected candidate does not possess at least two years’ relevant legal experience. The anticipated hiring range for Assistant City Attorney II is $90,425 to $120,000. The anticipated hiring range for Assistant City Attorney I is $82,806 to $91,000. Salary offer will be based on experience.
